Atmosfærisk CO2 før og nå
IPCC-leiren har lenge hevdet at førindustrielt CO2-nivå har vært 0,28 promille (280 ppmv), og videre at økningen derfra og til moderne tid i hovedsak er forårsaket av menneskets utslipp, uten å komme med troverdig dokumentasjon. Med dagens nivå på ca 416 ppmv er det lett å skremme ukyndige med disse tallene. Men hva om tallene de skremmer med faktisk ikke er sanne ???
IPCC hevder førindustrielt CO2-nivå (fra ca 1750) er lavt, mye sitert fra Keeling som 280 ppmv (0,028 %), han hadde sine data fra iskjerneprøver i Antarktis fra ca 1980. Men teknikken med å ta ut troverdige iskjerneprøver har endret seg mye siden dengang. Denne analysen hos WUWT, forfattet av geologen Renee Hannon, viser noe av kompleksiteten på dette feltet. Å hente ut temperaturdata fra iskjerner er lett siden det dreier seg om oksygenisotoper, mens fortidens CO2-nivå er mer utfordrende, bortsett fra der forskningen utføres av IPCC-lojalister som starter med konklusjonen og derfor bare ser det som er i overenstemmelse med konklusjonen.
Hva om det ikke er sant?
IPCC-leiren hevder i tillegg at CO2-nivået har vært så lavt i lang tid før dette, her er ett tilfelle (1998) hvor de tre IPCC-lojale forskere Alfsen, Skodvin og Fuglestvedt fra statens klimapolitiske stiftelse Cicero hevder det i 1000 år før 1750 var ca 280 ppmv med CO2 i atmosfæren. Hva om dette faktisk ikke er sant ???

Tallet 416 ppmv er en årlig verdi, og kommer fra Mauna Loa-observatoriet som analyserer luften ved observatoriet, sjekk lenken for relevante detaljer.
Tallet 280 ppmv er derimot ett datapunkt fra en iskjerne, det er en gjennomsnittsverdi som dekker 1000-4000 år. Det sier seg selv at når du har ett datapunkt for f.eks 2000 år, så vet du ikke om du har truffet en høy eller en lav verdi og du har sannsynligvis ikke fått med deg mye av de faktiske forhold. Du har istedet utslettet data når du opererer med et grovmasket gjennomsnitt.
IPCC-leiren sammenligner altså epler med bananer, til tross for at enhver kompetent klimaforsker vet at dette ikke er holdbar vitenskap. Høyre segment i illustrasjonen ovenfor viser hvor dypt man må bore før man får troverdige CO2-data. De første 5000 årene med is har ifølge forskningen det problemet at luftboblene i isen ikke er godt nok innefrosset til at CO2 ikke lekker ut av luftboblene, slik at luftboblene når de er innefrosset har mistet CO2 tilsvarende 30 ppmv. Legger vi inn professor Dilleys korreksjoner, ser vi de faktiske forhold i neste illustrasjon (se hans nettsted her).
Nederst leser vi årstallene, grønne søyler opptil den hvite bølgen/streken er den politisk korrekte verdien av fortidens CO2 i atmosfæren, mens korreksjonene er i lysere grønt. Vi ser da at fortidens CO2 er nesten på høyde med dagens nivå, og viktigere, den røde delen av nåtidens søyle er nesten borte. Det betyr at økningen i atmosfærisk CO2 i hovedsak er naturlig, bare 10 % av dagens CO2-nivå har fossil opprinnelse.
Forskningsreferansen Dilley viser til er interessant, Skrable et al 2022, der kan vi lese nederst i sammendraget at «the percentage of the total CO2 due to the use of fossil fuels from 1750 to 2018 increased from 0% in 1750 to 12% in 2018, much too low to be the cause of global warming.»
Hva viser plantene?
Den andre hovedkilden til informasjon om fortidens CO2-nivå er planterester. Plantene puster gjennom spalteåpninger i bladene (stomata). Når det er lite CO2 har bladene mange åpninger, med mye CO2 trenger planten mange færre åpninger for å få nok CO2. Også forskningen på planterester kan ha sine utfordringer, men det er en annen debatt.
De som forsker på dette feltet er slett ikke enige med IPCC-leiren i at fortidens nivå var 280 ppmv:
«In contrast to conventional ice core estimates of 270 to 280 parts per million by volume (ppmv), the stomatal frequency signal suggests that early Holocene carbon dioxide concentrations were well above 300 ppmv.» Wagner et al, 1999.
Ikke bare gir planterestene oss et høyere CO2-nivå, men de viser også kraftig variasjon i fortidens CO2-nivå, variasjoner som tilsvarer varme og kalde epoker det siste årtusenet og hvor vi vet at både sol og vulkaner har styrt global temperatur opp og ned. Her ser vi et CO2-nivå på ca 340 ppmv i førindustriell tid (1750) som samsvarte med temperaturer som var så høye at IPCC i sin siste hovedrapport brukte vesentlig lavere men mer politisk korrekte temperaturdata fra 1850-1900 for å få regnestykket til å gå opp.
Vi kan altså konkludere med at IPCC-leirens forskere ute og hjemme sprer et usant budskap når de hevder at fortidens CO2-nivå var 280ppmv (0.028 %). Det er ikke første gangen det avsløres at det jukses, manipuleres og utelates i IPCC-leiren, der alle midler er tillatt for å skremme befolkningen. Selv barna slipper ikke unna, til tross for at det er forbudt å skremme barn.
