Denne gruppen ble stiftet i 2015 av ledende akademikere i USA for å drive folkeopplysning om CO2s sentrale rolle både for våre liv og for økonomien. Fysikerne bak CO2 Coalition
Roger Cohen var utdannet ved MIT, Rutgers, Harvard og ble senere sentral i romforskningen med sin utvikling av strømforsyning til farkoster som utforsket ytre deler av solsystemet. Mens han var ved Exxon ledet han det eneste forskningsprosjektet i industrien for elementær forståelse av CO2 og klimaendringer. William Happer er beskrevet av oss fra før, og som leder av JASON og foreningen av amerikanske fysikere har han lenge vært sentral i USA. Da president Trump fikk et brev fra NASA-ansatte som bad ham trekke USA ut av Paris-avtalen tidlig i 2017, var det Happer som gav Trump råd. Senere har Happer gitt uttrykk for at Trump hadde kunnskaper i fysikk man ikke forventet fra en politiker og en president i USA, noe Happer mente kom fra Trumps onkel som var professor i fysikk ved MIT.
Rodney Nichols var Harvard-utdannet, arbeidet som R&D-leder i industrien og ved Rockefeller-universitetet i New York (bl.a med fysikeren Frederick Seitz, som var den som slo alarm i media da IPCC forlot vitenskapen i 1966), og var sentral i etableringen av CO2 Coalition.
Blant de sentrale forskerne med tilknytning hit finner vi Richard Lindzen, Roy Spencer, Don Easterbrook og Craig Idso, samt NASA-astronauten Walther Cunningham.
Caleb Rossiter
Klima-statistiker Caleb S.Rossiter er daglig leder for CO2 Coalition og dets 50 klimaforskere og energiøkonomer. De som har fulgt med en stund i klimasaken kjenner navnet. Han arbeidet lenge i en liberal tenketank og utredet på oppdrag fra Demokratene i USA og han har en solid historie som en anti-imperialistisk aktivist. Rossiter er altså ikke en person som klimaindustrien kan henge ut som en Tea Party-aktivist, men særdeles godt egnet til å kommunisere med den majoriteten i USA som ikke sokner til mer konservative Republikanere.
Men da Rossiter i mai 2014 gav uttrykk for sin tvil «Ofres Afrika for klimaendringene» i et innlegg i Wall Street Journal, ble han brått utrensket i en hekseprosess. Dr. Tim Ball beskrev saken med klare ord i et innlegg på verdens ledende nettsted for klimafakta -WUWT.
Andre akademikere som har gitt uttrykk for tvil i klimasaken og raskt har opplevd lignende utrenskning inkluderer den ledende svenske meteorologen Lennart Bengtsson (GWPF) og vår egen geolog og instituttleder Hans Borge (UiS). Nå er det muligens provokativt å ytre seg i medier som står fjernt fra egen arbeidsgiver, og vi vet alle hvor raskt avskjeden kommer den dagen en Cicero-ansatt skriver i Resett at det ikke finnes noen klimakrise, selv om alle ved Cicero er fullt klar over at det ikke finnes noen klimakrise i dag.
Bunnlinjen i all klimaforskning bør være etisk redelighet, noe det ikke er for mye av hverken ved Cicero eller Bjerknes-senteret, eller i de deler av den amerikanske klimaindustrien som juksterer på rådataene når naturen ikke vil samarbeide.
